The Valenti International Foundation’s spectacular inaugural black tie gala to benefit abused, homeless, and foster children in San Diego County on April 12, 2008 was a sold-out event at $1000 per person. Celebrating 45 years of Valentino’s work highlighted on Swarovski crystal mannequins, the décor also included millions of dollars worth of jewelry. Chubby Checker took the stage at the end of the evening, performing to a full house. This once in a lifetime event included acknowledgement of Irene Valenti’s part in supporting Father Joe Carroll’s development of “A Children’s Village,” a project, which serves to house more than 200 homeless children.
